Information about particular songs being a certain type of music, not necessarily the artist's usual type of music played.

Hi. I have recently discovered trance music and dancing to it. Apparently not all music called trance is actually trance music. I have just about given up on getting a clear definition of the various kinds of psychedelic trance, also called psytrance. There's also a kind called progressive psychedelic trance. This progressive psychedelic trance seems to also have songs called progressive house. I really don't care what name the music is given, but I'd like to know the names if only for helping me search for records or decide which party I might want to attend and at least have a general idea as to what kind of music I can to expect to hear.

So I thought I'd start with joining this tribe and posting some songs and or artists that I like and see what others might call the type of music they're grouped into. Some DJ's make more than one type of music, so when I list a song my question will be about the one song listed, not the artist's music as a whole. We know the Rolling Stones as rock musicians, but they do have a country music song or two in their repetoire. Same thing with some DJ's and bands of trance and house music.

By the way, I'm not too clear on what exactly the sound of progessive house is. :) If it is the songs I'll list in this first post of this thread I will have a very good understanding of it. If these songs are a different type of house than progressive or if they are mostly considered a type of trance, this should help me too. No matter what they're called, I find them fun to dance to and have a more playfull or sexy feel to them than psytrance. Psytrance has a lot of energy, at times bordering on the frenetic. Lots of fun at times and it really can get you hopping, but there's times when I like to actually be able to move with the music as compared to being left behind or playing catch up. It's all good, but things change over the course of a night or even the circumstances and ambiance of the place and people listening and dancing. As I like both types of music and dancing to them, I am mainly wanting to be able to identify which is which so that when I on occasion have a preference for which I want to hear, I'll be able to make an informed choice.

Plovdiv -------------by- RPO vs. David Weed
Keen String -------by- Fiord
Blew ----------------by- Antix, remixed by Fiord
In Stereo ----------by- Ticon, remixed by Yannis Kamarinos + Johannes Regnier

The "In Stereo" I just found out the name of and that it is by Ticon. So I went to Beatport to see how they classify the song. The Ticon original version of it has three or more classifications by Beatport! It is not the version that I heard first nor like as much even if it is the original! Trance, psy-trance, and progressive house. All depending on which album or compilation it is contained in. This makes no sense to me at all. This song is recorded the same in the three places I saw it listed as original mix. So I'm just confused. The version I listed in my list above is the version I have only heard so far. I like the song a lot and now thanks to Beatport I know its name, who originally recorded it, and who remixed it for the version I like. I am not used to this remixing process. Wow! The same song can be one that doesn't sound anything like the original! "Blew" has a Brackets remix on Beatport and it is a completely different song than the Antix with Fiord remix that I list. Having just now discovered this, I will have to go back to figuring out what I have just learned. Oh well, :) Hey, I still like the versions I list and am curious about which category of music they fall under. And this explains to me why I like all three versions I have heard of "Spines" originally by Sun Control Species. I am tripping. Thanks for your indulgience towards my naivette in these things.

Thanks for any help. Hey, if there's any pattern to the songs I have listed and a following to this type of music by people that like to dance to it, I would like to know if there's any clubs or places that play it on occasion that I can go to. One of the tribes that I'm a member of (Terrakroma) has DJ's that have played this type of music. I try to make it when I see that Armando, Earthbag(Andrew), or Gabriel are going to play. I'd certainly like to experience other DJs playing it too. When I've heard this type of music played outdoors nice and loud, it really sounds good. I have a few discs given to me that I've played at home on my stereo that sound good too, though it is such a difference to listen and dance to them alone as compared to outdoors in a group of like minded tribal members during a night of dancing.

Hector Cardenas
International DJ, innovative producer, founder and front man of one of the world's most legendary party organizations: FunkyTekno Tribe (FTT) and Organic. -DJ Hector Cardenas has emerged as a pioneering force in the house music scene and has continued to be instrumental in the proliferation of dance music on a global scale. Hector Cardenas' versitility as a DJ is second to none, applying his own unique and highly sophisticated stlye to all aspects of dance, ranging from future house and funky tekno to hip-house mash-ups and jazzy grooves. Starting out as a club DJ in 1989, Hector eventually joined forces with founding co-partners Kevon Banks and Jerry Sladewski in 1992 to form FTT just as the burgeoning underground rave scene was exploding along California's sunny shores. Firmly establishing himself as an FTT resident DJ, Hector has played at some of the worlds hottest clubs and has shared the stage with many of the world's premier electronic music artists such as DJ Sneak, Junior Sanchez, Mark Farina, DJ Dan, Daft Punk and The Basement Jaxx to name a few. After years of great success touring and producing parties with the FTT crew, Hector now spends a lot of his time traveling and playing the international club circuit as well as playing residency at clubs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Recently, Hector has toured Amsterdam, South Africa, the Domincan Republic and Mexico and is now looking foward to spending more time in the studio honing his recording and re-mixing skills. found this plain layout
Easily Influenced
Gelly Kusuma and Mikey Velazquez
Together, Mikey and Gelly both launched the self-coined "HAWT Movement" in February of 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Best friends united by their relentless passion for music, they set out to change the way that people looked at house music, parties, and just having fun in general. "At first we just wanted to start a record label in order to showcase our own music, meanwhile having the opportunity to sign our favorite artists that we admire", says Mikey. "Along with that came the party, and that's what really put us on the map and opened up doors to gradually build relationships that will forever change our lives".

In May of 2006, HAWT Afterhours was born. On every 1st and 3rd Friday since the inception, HAWT's underground parties have not only showcased the DJ talent of various quality acts from all over the world, such as Inland Knights, Justin Long, Johnny Fiasco and many more, but they have also displayed the talent of so many of the great DJ's in the local scene. "We always looked back to the beginnning, before we ever had a gig and knew that this was an important step, something that people needed and appreciated", says Gelly. "Overall, the main focus has always been on bringing back that old school house vibe at parties, bringing friends together with music, and just breaking boundaries and having FUN", according to Mikey. HAWT also stands for "Having A Wonderful Time", and they have done just that with the help of Eddie Barajas, Mike Magana, and many more along the way.

Keep an eye out for original music and remixes by EASILY INFLUENCED, which has been getting played by many world class acts such as Derrick Carter, Justin Long, Phil Weeks, DJ Mes, Natural Rhythm, Ricardo Rae, etc. "We think our versatility will surprise people. We really do love it all, and that will become evident in our music the longer and longer we do this", said Gelly. He continues, "we want our style to basically be versatility, and never want to hold anything back. If we're feeling something, whatever sound or style that may be, we make it."

Bykowski
"Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance. Of how much you really want to do it. And you'll do it, despite rejection in the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods. And the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is." -Charles Bukowski"

Jack Monforte
In the beginning there was Jack...or so the story goes.
Jack "Freedom" Monforte has been spinning for over two decades now.
An underground fixture since the late eighties, he joined forces with two other promoters
in the early nineties to create Sweet Sundays.
Shortly thereafter he moved to Alaska, where he saw an opportunity to bring the underground techno scene to virgin territory, today Jack is considered one of the pioneers of the Alaskan electronic scene.
Moving back to Los Angeles in the mid nineties saw Jack earn a residency at
Club Diva where he opened up for Richard Vission and live acts like,
Rozalla, Donna Blakely, Alyus, Bad Boy Bill,etc...
In the early part of 2001 Jack along with partner K.C. Santana created Soulplanet Sessions.
a place where musicians,Djs and dancers could come together and create magic.
Soulplanet Sessions has hosted the likes of Marlon D,Master Kev, Tony Powell, Wayne Lyons and numerous other DJs.
Apart from being a producer/ DJ, his other passion is Graffiti art and photography.
Jack's appearances have included...Dirty Dirty House Club, The Clinic, Faith after-hours, Inspiration, Therapy (FTWK), Movin, Union Square Lounge (NYC), The End Up (San Francisco) and countless one offs.
From spinning hip hop to the most soulful garage house music, Jack is
constantly looking for the perfect beat.

Everyone on the playa always looks forward to their scrumptious pancakes after a long night of partying. Speaking of scrumptious, Cor is gonna throw down his syrupy goodness of bangin electro and breaks. You can wet your appetite by listening to this maestro's latest mix here http://www.zshare.net/audio/7495637982a83e/
Jonboy (Dubalicious)
fLOORCRAfT (Freeform)
Iyad (Freeform)

Check out fLOORCRAfT's latest mix, Butt Naked Revolution - djfloorcraft.com/media/but.../naked.mp3

As an added bonus, from 9-11 there is FLIP 4 IT, where you flip a coin with the bartender. If you win, the drink is FREE!

http://www.mighty119.com

FROM THE END IN LONDON, TO DC10 IN IBIZA : DESTINATION MIGHTY, SF

San Francisco, CA – August 17, 2007 -- Residents of London’s famed THE END and Ibiza’s renown Superfreq parties are coming to San Francisco. Mighty and Non-Fat present to you “The Superfreq Express” featuring the former member of The Shamen and “Tech House” originator/catalyst, MR.C; his protégé and esteemed producer, Adultnapper (Francis Harris); and the next big thing in Electro House – Dollz At Play. Featuring a feast of cosmopolitan, techno-electro, acid, minimal house and techno beats from legends and prodigies– this is a show San Francisco will never forget.

For over 5 years now, the Superfreq nights have been one of the best underground parties around the world continually challenging eclectic electro, house and minimal techno sounds. They currently run every Sunday at The End, as well as select North American dates with Made Event in New York & Miami with a new quarterly residency at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles. After three fantastic seasons in Ibiza, the party successfully migrated from club Underground to the legendary DC 10 last year and the mayhem is now fully underway every Wednesday this summer. In 2005, Superfreq Records was established with partner Luke vB and currently the label is establishing a firm foothold in the world of cutting edge electronic dance music while still retaining a serious element of fun inherent in the Superfreq mantra. On the production front Mr. C has teamed up with Brooklyn’s emerging talent the nefarious Adultnapper, under the guise of the Sycophant Slags.

A true pioneer of dance music Mr. C scaled pop culture heights with the psychedelic-influenced techno-rave act The Shamen in the 1990s as pioneers of the rock/dance crossover and harbingers of today’s scene. His devotion to underground dance music and ascension as tech-house doyen and co-owner of London’s popular The End nightclub has kept Mr. C at the top of his game and a mainstay of the global techno scene. "I phoned round the main movers and groovers in the tech-house scene and said, 'Look, if we all start using this word to create a genre for ourselves, the press can jump on it. All of a sudden we're going to be seen as the leaders of this music.' And it worked.” His commitment to experimentation and credibility in setting the standards for sophistication in all sub-genres of dance music has earned him world-wide prestige as he endeavors to take the sounds of the underground to new and more accessible heights.

Relying primarily on the ancient art of mixing two records, Francis Harris’s precision skills and thoughtful programming have earned him a reputation as DJ equal to his regard as producer an uncommon distinction. Adultnapper tracks have since appeared on some of the world‘s most esteemed labels Steve Bug’s Audiomatique, Frank Lorber‘s Nummer, Mr. C’s Superfreq, Mule Electronic, Dirt Crew, etc. and have been hotly tipped by elite Djs Loco Dice, Danny Tenaglia, Craig Richards, Sven Vath, Laurent Garnier, Sasha, Monika Kruse, Steve Lawler, Danny Howells, etc. thus firmly establishing Harris as one rare purveyor who steadfastly challenges the conventional wisdom and accepted shortcuts of post modern electronic music. On the decks, Harris intricately weaves divergent strains into a thick, pumping groove that subtly rises and falls, drawing the crowd ever deeper within his emotion-laden, melodic journey. Circo Loco at DC10, Ibiza, Cielo in NY, The End, Mulletover in London, Weekend in Berlin, Pawn Shop in Miami, Avalon in LA, are just a few of the world’s discerning floors that have been graced by Adultnapper and been left clamoring for more.

Dollz at Play are a new concept in dance music & with their punky, rocky style are the new generation of Electro-House. If you haven't heard of the Dollz At Play by now then you've been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years. The Dollz continue their proliferation of the dance music world in their own unique style by completely capturing the imagination of the unsuspecting masses.
On top of holding down their residencies at Superfreq at The End in London on Sundays & DC10 Ibiza on Wednesdays the Dollz At Play have been ultra busy jet setting around the world to the far flung reaches of the planet, playing their own take on modern electronic dance music. Since their rise & rise, the Dollz At Play have been picked up by some of the best DJ agencies in the world including www.wildebookings.com worldwide, www.itb.co.uk for the UK & naomismart@gmail.com in Mexico. They've become a sensation not only in the UK where the Dollz are based but also in Germany & France. Not only do the Dollz have great musical taste & technical ability but they are also uber-stylish, often raising the bar with fashion related to music. Having graced the front cover of DJ Mag and conquered gigs most DJs only dream of, Dollz at Play are giving new meaning to “revolution”.

Mighty is opening the flood gates to a minimal-techno-acid-house revolution that will surely change how San Francisco parties – and their bringing the people who created, make, sustain and operate the infamous DC10 and The End to make it happen.

About the Album & Artist:
Brooding, ambient, experimentation, improvisation, filled with emotion… These are some of the words that describe the sound of Evan Marc (aka Bluetech). A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production, Evan’s love of the melodic and exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenious producers today.

Evan achieved international recognition and success with his downtempo / chill-out project, Bluetech, making waves in the chill-out world with his unique sound and top-notch production quality. He released three full length albums on Aleph Zero Records and Waveform Records, as well as starting his own imprint, Native State Records, and touring internationally. A need to expand his sound led him to explore his love for tech-house resulting in his latest album, “Emotional Ecology.”

On “Emotional Ecology,” Evan delves into the deeper side of tech-house, presenting a melodic and dub influenced album with a focus on dance floor usability and emotional development.

"I really wanted to make an album which brought a sense of the sacred to the dance floor,” Evan says of the album. “I've always loved the sense of play that people feel when they release themselves to the moment in dance. It's light hearted, healing, and holy all at the same time. This album was written for people who dance. It was written to make a safe space for people to let themselves go and experience magic through movement."

The album is already receiving support and play from influential DJs, labels, and artists spanning a variety of electronic music genres including Gordon Field (Interchill Records), Gio (Dakini Records / Makyo), Taho (Lumina Records), System 7, and more. Evan’s signature touch on the tech-house sound is sure to make “Emotional Ecology” a stand out release in the genre and a sought after release for collectors who know premium quality electronic music.

PsyBooty Records is proud to present yet another ground breaking, genre bending masterpiece by Evan Marc.

Reviews:
“One of the worlds leading purveyors of IDM brings his talents to the world of tech house, with his classic melodies and soaring dub beats, Evan Marc drops an intelligent, deep and beautiful album for the dance floor.” – Michael Hodgson (Pitch Black, Dubmission Records)

"Evan's sound is as always, unique and inspiring. Its dance music you can chill to. Un-offensive, but still bumping - right where my heart is headed these days!” – Simon Baring (Twisted Records)

"Once again Evan reveals his depth and versatility as one of the most innovative musician/producers around. Emotional Ecology is a brilliant cross-over travelogue that's sure to rock clubs and trance floors world wide." – Naasko (Label Manager, Interchill Records)

“Wonderful rich deep housey grooves, imbued with Evan’s distinctive sonic signature that we so appreciate on his Bluetech releases. We’ve been playing this a lot and it’s really one of our favorites at the moment.” – Steve Hillage & Miquette Giraudy (System 7)
Noel Sanger July 2007 Update

Noel Sanger:: Update:: July 2007

At the midpoint of of 2007, it's clear that this is shaping up to be one of Noel's best yet! With remixes so far this year for artists such as the Flash Brothers and Lustral, original productions on labels like Armada, Baroque and Curvve, and DJ Support from the likes of Judge Jules on BBC Radio One, Armin Van Buuren on A State of Trance, Matt Darey on Nocturnal, Markus Schulz on Global DJ Broadcast and innumerable plays at clubs and festivals around the world, not to mention increased touring and Noel's first bookings in Europe, the first half of 2007 has only laid the groundwork for the supernova yet to unfold in the second half.

Markus Schulz "Progression" CD releases on Armada, it's his second artist album, and it prominently features Markus' collaboration with Noel Sanger and Dauby, entitled "Perfect". It's slated to release as the second single from the critically-acclaimed CD. Some of you may recall "Perfect" as a Noel Sanger production from a couple of years ago that was never released and never quite fulfilled its' sonic potential. After tinkering with it for 2 years on and off, Noel invited Markus to take a stab at it, and take it to it's next level- and he has- while still retaining the original magic of the tune. It was an obvious choice to include it on Markus' outstanding new album.

Dissident Music, Noel's long-planned label imprint is launching this summer, with a first release tentatively scheduled for September 2007. Not merely a vehicle for Noel's own productions, Dissident will feature releases from some of the hottest new names in Dance Music and some well-known favorites. A label launch tour is in the works, starting in Fall 07. Look for it at your favorite digital retailers and thank you in advance for your support!

A new Noel Sanger mix CD and a weekly radio show are in the works... more details will soon follow, look for an announcement next month. Noel's recent set for Clubxsession Radioshow in France and Belgium will be posted soon as well, and a Spring promo mix is available for download on Noel's artist page at www.blush-tonic.com.
know of a good way to get live progressive sets?

i recently found mercuryserver, among other forum-type arenas for downloading live DJ sets like digweed, hernan cattaneo, and others. i also randomly came across this site (http://jiane.typepad.com/weblog/djmixes/index.html) which enables downloads through megaupload, etc. do you all know of other sites that consolidate, for example, Digweed's KissFM show? or Hernan's MetroDance 95.1 mixes? i can never seem to coordinate my schedule to listen to them live but would like to hear these at some point. thanks!

Noel Sanger June 2007 Update and Live Sets

Here is an update from my good friend Noel.-----

Hi there, hello, buenos dias, greetings and salutations, and so on...

With summer almost here, I thought i should send a quick shout out to you guys to keep you up to date and to thank you once again for your support. I never cease to be amazed at how blessed I am to get to do what I do, and am thankful for every opportunity to come to your city and get absolutely mental with so many absolutely great people.

So, here's what's up...

Blushtonic Bookings... It's a brand new agency, and it's my new agency. Founded in 2007 by former Yoshitoshi label manager Stefania Yanachkov, it turns out to be the perfect fit for me after a few years of self-booking. Check out the roster at www.blush-tonic.com, and email stefania@blush-tonic.com for any and all inquiries. I'm happy to be on board; now I can get back to making music! =)

Solar Sessions Cruise... From Atlanta-based Skyline Destinations comes this exciting event from September 1-6, on Royal Caribbean's "Enchantment of the Seas". Sailing from Miami, it will also include a launch party in downtown Miami, and feature DJ's including Markus Schulz, Nicholas Bennison, Shawn Rudnick and myself. Check out www.skylinedestinations.com for more info!

European tour dates... Most people are surprised when I tell them that I have never DJ'ed in Europe, yet this will be my first time, and several more visits are in the works before the year's end. On Friday, June 15th I'll play the Escape Club in Sofia, Bulgaria, and then fly to Helsinki, Finland for an afterhours/morning party with my good friend Miika Kuisma. With any luck, Miika and I will get some time in the studio while I am there, so stay tuned...

New releases... On the heels of my remix of the Flash Brother's massive "Stay" (Armada), Miika Kuisma's "Awakening" (Baroque), and my own "Nothing" (Curvve), my remix of "Because of You" by chart-toppers Lustral is set to release on Baroque this month. More originals are in the final stages, and remixes of Jonathan Allyn's "Illuminate" and the debut release from NYC's Cloudbreak Recordings are set to make the rounds.

For those who asked: Yes- I did work on some of the stuff on Tiesto's new CD, as well as some that didn't make the cut, apparently. No, I'm not credited. And as much as the tracks changed in the 15 months between my last session in LA and the release of the CD, I reckon that's OK. It doesn't sound like anything I was involved in survived the endless revisions, and I was, after all, just programming. Thanks to all who asked.

As always, I thank you and send my best.

See you soon on a dancefloor, somewhere.

=)

Noel

Upcoming dates:
June 15- Escape, Sofia, Bulgaria
June 16- Helsinki Finland
July 3 Karu and Y, Miami
July 21-Pioneer Daze, Salt Lake City
July 26- Las Vegas (TBC)
July/August Love, NYC (date TBA)
Sept 1-6 Solar Sessions Cruise, Royal Carribean
Favored among the likes of Deep Dish, Danny Howells, James Holden, Hernan Cattaneo and Danny Tenaglia, this New York native has been influencing the world's underground dance scene since the early 90's.

While he’s known for his progressive tribal house sounds, his roots are in hip-hop. He earned the name “Quick Mix” as a teenager when first wowing audiences with his turntablist skills. Not straying far from his background as a block party DJ growing up in Queens NY, he readily demonstrates those turntable skills with seamless mixing, creative layering and the clever use of acappellas, which often happen “live” and in the moment. Like his productions, expect his house sets to be unique, emotional and undeniable on the dance floor.

Notable productions include “You Are Sleeping”, "Flying Song", “Nameless”, "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You", “I’ll Be Your Friend” and “Aenema” amongst many, many others. Sought after for his underground yet marketable sound, Quick has also been summoned to remix major label artists such as Sarah Mclachlan, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, Robert Owens and BT, just to name a few. His music has also been requested for licensed use in “The Crazy Frog Racer” & “Moto GP 2006.”

Each year many A-List DJ’s from around the world license his songs for their compilations, such as Roger Sanchez, Hernan Cattaneo, The Timewriter, Peter Rauhofer, Dave Seaman & Phil K, James Holden, Deep Dish, John Creamer & Stephane K, and Kenny ‘Dope’ Gonzalez.

“Quick is one of the most talented producers out there who has the ability to think outside the box and continuously create fresh new event records.” ~Ali & Sharam (Deep Dish)

“PQM is someone I admire very much. His music has a dark & twisted side that can be downright scary at times, which, in my opinion, is a very good thing!” ~Danny Howells

Hey, prog-heads...Wake up, yo! This tribe needs an energy drink.

Naptime's over. Grab your shit and hit the decks...there's some fantastic new stuff coming out this year so far (and some gems from last year).

Top 5:
1. Miroslav Terzin - Funkstatic
2. Quasar - Sandal Wood (Coldfish Remix)
3. Claudio Bonaldi & Leonardo Roa -Universo Elastico (Miroslav Terzin Remix)
4. Jeff Belfi - Digital Damage (Dan S Gave More Damage Remix)
5. 16 Bit Lolitas - Non Verbal Language

Anyone know the current state of the Portland-area progressive scene?

Dubalicious v. Freeform (& Afterparty) - Friday 5/25 at SHINE

1) Party: Dubalicious v. Freeform
Venue: Shine, 1337 Mission at 9th
Date: Friday, May 25th
Cost: Free before 11pm, $5 after
Syles: Electro House, Breaks, Progressive

DJs:
Eric Sharp (Rock It Science) - see bio below
Jonboy (Dubalicious)
Floorcraft (Freeform) v. Iyad (Freeform)

Headlining this month's Dubalicious v. Freeform (4th Fridays) and making his first appearance at Shine will be ERIC SHARP of the Rock It Science crew. Eric is widely known for his standout underground parties (which I highly recommend by the way) and this is great chance to catch him at a more intimate affair. Eric will be bumping out gritty electro and tech house standouts in the closing slot.
Resident JONBOY will be in the third slot with some electro and breaks gems and residents IYAD and FLOORCRAFT will be opening and tag teaming on the progressive tip.

2) AFTERHOURS Party at LEGION - 2190 Folsom at 18th - 2am-late - $5 with Shine stamp, $10 otherwise - FULL BAR
Call 415-826-7944 on Friday for directions
DJS: ERIC SHARP, JONBOY, ROBB GREEN will be playing electro house and breaks

ERIC SHARP:
Eric Sharp's ascent to the forefront of San Francisco's dance music scene can only be described as meteoric. From working countless dance floors into frenzies at clubs, bars, and parties across the West Coast to producing some of San Francisco's most epic parties with his crew Rock It Science, Eric's seemingly endless energy and dedication is simply contagious. One of the most versatile dj's around, Eric Sharp is known to play anything from deep and funky house to dirty acid and edgy electro to pumping Chicago beats and everything in between.
Watch for Eric Sharp to continue his exponential growth for years to come, building on the fan base that hits the floor hard at all of his shows and expanding his following across the US and the globe. Considered by many to be one of the hardest working dj's out there, Eric's efforts can only continue yielding greater and greater results over time. Look forward to seeing this shining star continue to rise!

Open Records Australia presents 2Kings in Motion

OPNDG002 - 2Kings in Motion – Seduction EP
Release: May 2007

Tracklist:

1. Seduction
2. Storm Flavour – progressive mix (digital exclusive)
3. Suck My Computer (digital exclusive)

2Kings in Motion is the dynamic new project on Open Records from Greek producers Achilleas Dimitracopoulos (Fog/Elastic) & Vangelis Dagrakis (V-Point). After encountering electronic music in the 90s, Achilleas and Vangelis both bought studios and began to produce dance music around the turn of the century.

At the time, Vangelis’s productions centered more around the sounds of electro, techno and trance; while Achilleas had some successes in a deeper, more tribal progressive style with his projects Fog & Elastic on such labels as Tribal Vision, ZMA, Higher Fidelity Music & YSE.

After meeting in the start of 2004 and exchanging demos, the pair decided to try to blend their two distinctly different styles together and after some time in the studio, they had their first collaboration, “Seduction” picked up by Open Records for their debut compilation Slow-Release. Eventually it was decided they would like to make it a more permanent partnership on Open Records and the 2Kings in Motion project was born.

Currently the 2Kings in Motion sound could best be described electro-progressive with touches of techno and tribal, in keeping with the modern sound of progressive dance music. It is deep & intelligent music suited for both clubs and outdoor dancefloors, and has already seen plays by djs such as Kosmas Epsilon, Suspekt & Antix/Fiord.

Open Records are proud to support this fresh and innovative project from some of Greece’s best producers with their first digital release, the Seduction EP. The Seduction EP will be available in April 2007 on beatport.com and itunes, with the next full Open Records compilation "Festivus" out in June.

www.open-records.net will be online soon, till then- keeping checking our tribe or myspace for samples & more details of release!
And here is a little update from my good friend.------------------------

Noel Sanger::April 07

Just a few bits to keep you in the loop- and a thanks for all of your support over the years!

Noel Sanger "Nothing" released on Curvve Recordings back in March, and in June two new mixes will make their way to you, from Mohawk(aka Openair) and Darin Epsilon. It's also been getting loads of play from Judge Jules on Radio One and in worldwide syndication for the last month. Thanks to the Judge and all the DJ's who are supporting the various mixes!

Flash Brothers ft Tiff Lacey "Stay" (Noel Sanger Remix) This former Global Selection is out now on Coldharbour/Armada and is getting pay from pretty much every progressive and trance leaning DJ around and the feedback has been amazing. I've been a Flash fan from the beginning and this is one of their best ever with an amazing vocal... Glad I could be involved!

Miika Kuisma and Olli S "Awakening" Just released on Baroque Digital and is enjoying wide support from Armin Van Buuren (on A State of Trance), Markus Schulz (on Global DJ Broadcast) among dozens of others! Probably the most inspired I have been in ages, was working on this remix; visit http://www.miikakuisma.com/blog/philosophy/ and read Miika's "little theory of everything", and you will get some idea of the intention behind this piece. Then go buy it, and help raise the vibrational level that much more!

Lustral "Because of You" is forthcoming on Baroque as well... The UK chart-toppers behind "Everytime" (and aka Chakra/Space Brothers/Ascension) have finally released a full artist album and a double Remix CD will be issued through Baroque Records... Look for my mix sometime before Summer... =)

Also, next week (April 26-28), if you are in the Southeastern USA, you should be in Chapel Hill, NC for the Signal Music Fest! It opens on Thursday April 26 with a lecture at the UNC student Union entitled "Techno: A Black American Artform", delivered by none other than one of its' originators, Derrick May, followed by DJ sets from May, Stacey Pullen and others. Then Friday and Saturday the festival continues throughout 10 different venues and featuring a diverse array of headliners such as Donald Glaude, Noel Sanger, Odi, Negativland, Richard Chartier, Machine Drum, Souls of Mischief, Masta Ace, Girls on Film, Sleazy McQueen, and many many more! oh yeah, and the whole weekend's worth of shows is just 30 freakin' dollars! Betta booka room now!

That's it for, more news coming soon: releases, guest DJ slots, new radio shows and summer dates galore!

Till then , May you be well; May you know peace in this moment.

Noel Sanger

Dubalicious v. Freeform at SHINE - Friday 3/23 - 9pm-2am
Free before 11pm - $5 after 11pm

Dex Stakker (Opulent Temple)
Iyad (Freeform)
Floorcraft (Freeform)
Jonboy (Dubalicious)

Welcome to the third installment of Dubalicious v. Freefrom at Shine (1337 Mission at 9th). Joining residents Iyad, Floorcraft, and Jonboy for the night will be Dex Stakker from Opulent Temple. He will be bringing the Opulent Temple sound along with our residents playing the breaks, electro, progressive, and tribal beats that we all know and love.

DEX STAKKER (Opulent Temple) - Hailing from Eastern Washington, a place practically devoid of electronic music, Dex found his musical and spiritual home in the San Francisco breaks and house scene. Inspired and fostered by Burning Man camp Opulent Temple, he has emerged as an up-and-comer in the pleasantly competitive SF DJ community, having opened for such breaks and house luminaries as Meat Katie and Elite Force.

Arashk, Iranian hard/progressive rock band

Hi!

I am Salim, a composer in Iranian hard/progressive rock band named Arashk. We live in Iran and now have released our first album, Abrahadabra.

Actually myself, as the main composer on this album have always had problems in defining my music's style. Maybe it is because the variety of musical styles
